Homemade green tea ice-cream

in How to: recipes

I’m always craving for this shyt. I have no idea why. So instead of paying AUD$1.50 for one scoop, I decided to make my own.  And damn, the green tea powder so expensive that I buy one large double quarter pounder meal at McDonalds, with a change of $1.25. lol.

Anyhow, I’m gonna share with u my 2nd experience of making this ice cream. 1st time was a total failure. Why? Bcuz I used green tea tea bags instead of powders. =x

I’m sharing, be grateful. Muahahaha. So, I’ve used:

  • 1 ½ cups full cream milk
  • 1 ½ cups double cream
  • 6 egg yolks (cuz the eggs I used are small)
  • ½ cup of caster sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of matcha green tea powder.
  • ¼ cup hot water.

I was actually looking at the recipe here. Changed some of the ingredients listed on the site, but it worked the same way.  Unfortunately my food processor died on me, so I had to manually process the ice cream. Never ever buy Philips product. Lesson learnt.

I tweaked the pics with PS. Still trying to learn.

[sue me]: It's not as smooth as it looks T_T Consider ok since I got no machine to help smoothen the ice cream. *winks*
